What is an EID number?
An EID (Embedded Identity Document) is a unique 32-digit number linked to your device’s eSIM. Mobile carriers use it to activate and manage eSIM plans. Just like an IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number identifies a physical phone, the EID uniquely identifies your eSIM chip.

How is EID different from an IMEI or SIM card number?
- EID (Embedded Identity Document): A 32-digit number identifying the eSIM chip in your device. It remains the same even if you switch carriers.
- IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity): A 15 or 16-digit number used to identify the physical phone itself. It helps with network authentication and theft tracking.
- ICCID (Integrated Circuit Card Identifier): The number linked to a specific SIM card or eSIM profile. This can change when switching SIM profiles, while the EID remains the same.
Why do you need to know your EID number?
There are several scenarios where knowing your EID is useful:
- eSIM Activation: Some carriers, especially international ones, require your EID for activation.
- Switching Carriers: The EID helps when changing providers or setting up multiple eSIM profiles.
- Troubleshooting: If you're experiencing mobile network issues, support teams may ask for your EID.
- Device Identification: The EID may be required when filing a warranty claim or registering your device.
